(CENTREVILLE) – Authorities have identified the man who died in a crash last week in Park Township.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office says 35 year old John Paul Lewis of Three Rivers was pronounced dead at the scene when his motorcycle struck a vehicle July 9.

Deputies were called to the area of U.S. 131 near Flowerfield Road at 8:30 PM Wednesday for a reported injury crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Lewis was driving his motorcycle south on U.S. 131 and lost control of his bike, colliding with the rear of another southbound vehicle.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene, and was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
