(STURGIS) – Sturgis City Commissioners received an update on Sturgis Hospital becoming a Rural Emergency Hospital.
During Wednesday’s Commission Meeting, Sturgis Hospital President and Interim CEO Jeremy Gump shared that they are moving forward to convert to a Rural Emergency Hospital, and that the State of Michigan has taken a necessary step to allow that process to happen. LINKC.
Gump says Sturgis Hospital would like to make the change as quickly as they can, but want to make sure it’s done properly and legally.
Gump goes on to share some of the steps the hospital needs to take to achieve this status. LINKD.
Gump told the Commission that Sturgis Hospital is still looking to partner with a Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Center, and have a transfer agreement with that facility. That is also one of the requirements for being a Rural Emergency Hospital.
