(SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP) - A one vehicle crash claimed the life of the driver.
Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach says his office was called to a crash just after 4:30 PM Wednesday near the intersection of Garrett Road and M-152 in Silver Creek Township.
The investigation determined that 50-year-old Daniel Underwood of Dowagiac was driving west on Garrett Road from M-152 when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. Underwood was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
Deputies believe alcohol and speed were factors in this crash.
Assisting deputies at the scene were the Sister Lakes and Dowagiac City Fire Departments, the SMCAS Ambulance Service and Cass County Animal Control.
The incident remains under investigation.
