(SCHOOLCRAFT TOWNSHIP) - A man accused of stabbing his father following an argument has been charged.

The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office says 27 year old Dakota Hall is facing one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and one count of assault and battery. He is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail with bond set at $25,000.

Michigan State Police say they were called to a home in the 3000 block of West VW Avenue just before 9 PM Wednesday. They found a 49 year old Schoolcraft man who had been stabbed several times.

The man, who is Hall’s father, says the two got into an argument, and which time Hall slapped his father, pulled out a knife and stabbed his father before running away.

Troopers say that Hall returned to the house at 8:30 AM, but couldn’t get in and left the property on foot.

Schoolcraft Schools were contacted by Kalamazoo County Central Dispatch about the situation, and went into lockdown. Hall was found at 9:11 AM hiding in a ditch near East Lyon Street and taken into custody. The lockdown was lifted by the schools.

Hall is scheduled to have a probable cause hearing on September 16 and then a preliminary examination on September 23.
