(PENN TOWNSHIP) – Authorities say one person died in a one vehicle crash over the weekend.

Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach says his deputies responded to a crash in Penn Township at 8 AM Saturday. Investigators say 71 year old David Dussel of Cassopolis was driving east on Mud Lake Street near Penn Road. His vehicle left the roadway, striking a tree and then overturning.

Deputies along with personnel with the Penn Township Fire Department and the SMCAS Ambulance Service attempted life saving measures, but Dussel was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say Dussel was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The incident is still under investigation.
