(MILGROVE TOWNSHIP) – One person is dead in a weekend crash in Northeast Indiana.
Steuben County Sheriff Rodney Robinson says his deputies were sent out just before 6:30 PM Saturday for a vehicle fire on State Road 120 near County Road 525 West in rural Milgrove Township. When they arrived, deputies found a single passenger vehicle on fire on the north side of the road near a large concrete post.
The fire was put out by the Orland and Fremont Fire Departments, and the driver was found inside the vehicle. They were pronounced dead. The victim’s name is not being released until positive identification and the notification of next of kin.
Witnesses told Deputies the vehicle had been heading west on State Road 120 at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control for an unknown reason. The auto slid off the north side of the road and collided with the large
post, and then burst into flames.
Also assisting at the scene were the Indiana State Police and Steuben County EMS.
