(STURGIS) – It was another record breaking day for the St. Joseph County United Way.
Thursday was the 14th annual WBET Radiothon to benefit the United Way. 18 different celebrity DJ teams were on the air starting at 6 AM to help raise money for the United Way, along with the online silent auction that was going on.
In 2022 the Radiothon raised just over $143,000. At 11:50 PM Thursday, United Way Executive Director Kelly Hostetler stepped up to the microphone to announce the total amount raised on the day. LINKC.
The actual amount was $157,299.90. A United Way board member donated ten cents to bring the total amount raised to $157,300.
The top celebrity DJ team in the Corporate Division this year is Morgan Olson, who raised $40,678. The number one team in the Civic Division is the Sturgis Elks, who raised $31,906.
Something new added for 2023 was a corn hole tournament, put on in conjunction with the Sturgis Eagles #1314. The blind draw, double elimination tournament and a second tournament raised $130 for the Radiothon.
