(CALVIN TOWNSHIP) – A teen was injured in a two vehicle accident in Southwest Michigan.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department says 27 year old Nicholas Dimos of Elkhart was turning into a private driveway on Union Road near Center Street just before 6 PM Saturday. Dimos told deputies he did not see the oncoming vehicle, and struck it as he turned.

The driver of the second vehicle, 17 year old Jaden Prouty of Union, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the
crash.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and the airbags in each vehicle did activate. Assisting deputies were the Penn Fire Department and Pride Care EMS.
