(STURGIS) - Outgoing Sturgis City Commissioner Frank Perez has reached out to the man who is taking his place.
In a media release, Perez says he contacted Stoney Summey to congratulate him as the new Fourth Precinct Commissioner and told him he looks forward to Summey advocating for the Fourth Precinct. Perez says he also contacted the two hospitals he worked with as recently as last week to bring healthcare to Sturgis to advise them of the upcoming leadership change in December.
Perez says he is deeply grateful for all the support he has received during his time on the Sturgis City Commission. He says he is proud of everything that was accomplished during his tenure as Commissioner and as Mayor. Perez says throughout his service he stood up for the City of Sturgis, listened to the residents and businesses, and consistently sought accountability and transparency. He says his values and beliefs have shaped who he is, and he leaves this role with no regrets.
Perez says it has been a true point of pride to serve as the first Mexican-American appointed to the Sturgis City Commission; the first Mexican-American elected to the Commission and the first Mexican-American appointed Mayor, serving three terms.
Perez says it has been an honor and privilege to serve the City of Sturgis. He says may God continue to bless our country and may God continues to bless the City of Sturgis.
