(CASSOPOLIS) – Three Cass County men have been sentenced on Criminal Sexual Conduct charges.
According to the Michigan State Police, 25 year old Johnathon Barrett of Cassopolis was convicted of Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison.
In addition, 55 year old Craig Kirksey of Dowagiac was convicted of Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and sentenced to a minimum of 17 years in prison, while 27 year old James Tovey Jr. of Dowagiac was found guilty of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and sentenced to 7 years in prison.
The three men were arrested following a year long investigation by the Michigan State Police from the Niles Post. It started when Troopers and members of the Southwest Enforcement Team conducted a drug raid on a Benton Township home. Officers rescued a 13 year old girl who had been sexually abused by the men who also gave her methamphetamine.
