(CONSTANTINE) – The Constantine Village Council wants to know if they need a Village Manager or not.
Current Village Manager Mark Honeysett has announced that he will be retiring February 28, 2026 after 19 years on the job. The question is, should the Village hire a new manager, or go in a different direction?
During Monday’s meeting, the Village Council heard a presentation from Curtis Holt of the Michigan Municipal League on what they would do if hired by Constantine. LINKC.
From there Holt says he would create a profile that would be made public for potential candidates to reply to. He would meet with the applicants and determine which of them meets the qualifications Constantine has said they want. He would them give the names of the candidates to the Village Council and set up interviews.
Following Holt’s presentation, Village Trustee Don King presented another option to the Council. LINKD.
After some discussion, the Village Council agreed to meet with Jim Bontrager during their next meeting. If they feel comfortable, then they would hire him to do the evaluation of the Village.
