(COLON) – The Colon Schools Board of Education has found their next Superintendent.

During a special meeting Wednesday, the Board unanimously voted to hire Mr. Richard Hilderley to be their next Superintendent. Hilderley previously served as Superintendent with Bronson Community Schools for two years, before returning to Tecumseh Schools where he taught for several years, to become the Superintendent.

Board member Paige Smolarz says she is very impressed by what Hilderley brings to the table. LINKC.

Board President Rebecca Stoll says the community surveys that were submitted showed the community is in favor of hiring Hilderley. She says like the rest of the Board she contacted people who know Hilderley and they gave him glowing recommendations, including a former student. LINKD.

The Board will enter into contact negotiations with Hilderley.

The plan was to have a new Superintendent hired by July 1. Stoll says since that may not happen, they will have an Interim Superintendent to help the School District until Hilderley’s contract is finalized. The Interim Superintendent will also help Hilderley get acclimated to his role with Colon once he is hired.
