Monday, June 16, 2025

(BURR OAK) – Three candidates are being interviewed a second time for the Burr Oak Schools Superintendent position.

Last week, the Burr Oak Board of Education interviewed five individuals, and then narrowed that down to three they wanted to bring back for a second round. They are Dr. John Strycker, Vice President of Program Development for Fueling Brains in Texas; Mr. Howard Edwards, Director of School Learning for the South Bend Community Schools; and Dr. Kelvin Butts, Superintendent of Benton Harbor Area Schools.

The candidates will get a tour of the Burr Oak Schools campus at 2:30 PM today, followed by a meet and greet with the community at 4 PM in the High School Gym.

Strycker will be interviewed by the Board of Education starting at 5:15 PM. Edwards’ interview will start at 6:15 PM and then at 7:15 PM. Butts will have his interview.

The interviews are open to the public and community members are invited to attend.

It’s believed that following the final interviews, the Board of Education will select one candidate to begin negotiations to become the next Superintendent.
