(WHITE PIGEON TOWNSHIP) - A two vehicle crash over the weekend killed two people and injured a third person.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Chad Spence says on Saturday his deputes were called to the area of Eagley Road near Lake Road in White Pigeon Township for a personal injury crash involving two vehicles.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 68 year old Riverside, Illinois man was driving west before turning onto Eagley Road. The vehicle was struck by an northbound auto, driven by a 37 year old White Pigeon woman.
The Illinois man and his passenger, a 75 year old Orland Park, Illinois man, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The White Pigeon woman was taken to Beacon Health Three Rivers Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash which is still under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the White Pigeon Police and Fire Departments, the Michigan State Polie and Life Care Ambulance.
