(STURGIS) - Sturgis has found the person they want to be their Interim City Manager.

During Monday's meeting the Sturgis City Commission interviewed Douglas Terry for the position. Terry has experience as both a City Manager and an Interim City Manager with several communities.

The Commission asked him several questions during the interview process. One of the questions was what are the characteristics of a great leader. Terry says that a great leader works for the people, the Department heads, the employees and for the City Commission. He said that if hired he would be a supporter of the Commission.

Another question was what do you see as the role of an Interim City Manager? Terry says it's a two-fold position.

Terry says it would be his role to handle the day to day tasks to help the City and to support its employees and staff. He also says he sees his role to help Sturgis find their next full-time City Manager. (LISTEN ABOVE).

Later in the meeting, the Commission voted unanimously to have City Attorney T.J. Reed begin contract negotiations with Terry to become the Interim City Manager. Some of the matters to be discussed is the rate of pay for the position and how many hours a week he will be expected to work.
