(CENTREVILLE) - The St. Joseph County Commission has approved the millage amounts for the 2026 tax season.

During their recent meeting St. Joseph County Equalization Director Josh Simmons shared with the Commission that the Headlee Reduction fraction was .9915.

With that information Simmons shared the maximum allowable millage rates for six different millages. Simmons says the Operating Millage would be 4.4481 mills. The 911 Millage would be .8923 mills; the Commission On Aging would be .7386 mills; the County Transportation Millage would be .3246 mills; the Road Millage would be .9849 and the Parks Millage would be .2450 mills.

Simmons says the County Administration is asking for the millages to be presented at the highest amount possible.

The County Commission approved the request as presented by a 5-0 vote. Commissioners Rusty Baker and Christina Yunker were not in attendance.
