(CASSOPOLIS) - An arrest has been made in a fatal hit and run accident in Cass County.
Sheriff Clint Roach says Detectives with his office arrested an individual on Saturday. The person's name has not been released, pending their arraignment in Cass County District Court.
At 9:49 AM on May 24, Cass County Sheriff's Deputies were called to M-152 near Pleasant Street in Silver Creek Township. They determined that 24 year old Timothy Johnson of Benton Harbor was walking on M-152 when an unknown vehicle struck Johnson and drove away.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.
Further investigation revealed the vehicle of interest was a 2010 to 2012 black Ford Taurus. The vehicle should have significant driver's side damage.
Roach says Detectives and Deputies have spent countless hours investigating this incident to try and bring closure to Timothy Johnson's family and friends. Roach would also like to thank the citizens of Cass, Van Buren, and Berrien Counties who allowed his office to view video footage and provide information about this investigation.
