(COLDWATER) - A suspect has been arrested for trying to purchase items at a Coldwater store with a fake identification.
Branch County Sheriff Fred Blankenship says at 11:30 AM Friday his deputies responded to Planet Powersports after receiving a report that a man was trying to purchase two jet skis and a trailer using a fraudulent identification and another person's identity.
When deputies arrived, the suspect ran into a nearby wooded area. A perimeter was quickly established and a K-9 unit was deployed to assist in the search.
After an extensive search, deputies located the suspect and took him into custody. The suspect, a Chicago man, was arrested and taken to the Branch County Jail.
Assisting with the search were the Coldwater Police and their K-9 Unit along with staff from Planet Powersports.
The investigation remains ongoing. A report has been submitted to the Branch County Prosecutor's Office for review of potential charges.
