(COLDWATER) - A Coldwater man accused of using his truck as a weapon in a brutal attack on a local couple will now face trial.
A Branch County judge has ruled 23-year-old MacCain Snyder competent to stand trial after months of psychiatric treatment and evaluation. Snyder was previously deemed incompetent last fall, but a new report determined he can now assist in his defense. Prosecutors say Snyder intentionally rammed his truck into a Coldwater Lake couple on June 10, 2024 -- an act investigators link to his alleged obsession with their granddaughter. He is charged with two counts of attempted murder. Snyder remains in the Branch County Jail on more than $10 million bond as the case moves toward trial.
