Canadian Man Caught With 90 Pounds of Ecstasy on Ohio Turnpike Sentenced to Prison

(TOLEDO) - A Canadian man will serve three years in federal prison after authorities say he was caught transporting 90 pounds of MDMA -- commonly known as ecstasy -- along the Ohio Turnpike. WTOL reports 27-year-old Dontavius Forbes pleaded guilty in June. Federal agents found the drugs packed into hidden compartments inside his SUV at an Ohio Turnpike service plaza in Sandusky County. The vehicle, registered in Canada, had been in the U.S. for more than six months. Agents also seized nearly $3,000 in cash. Forensic testing confirmed the 20 vacuum-sealed packages were MDMA, a Schedule I drug. After completing his prison sentence, Forbes will be deported to Canada. The case was investigated by U.S. Border Patrol and the DEA.
