(UNDATED) - A 39 year old Coldwater man is behind bars following a two state chase.
Branch County Sheriff Fred Blankenship says at 9:47 PM Monday, deputies were in the area of Fiske Road near Newton Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a license plate violation. The suspect vehicle failed to stop and drove away with deputies in pursuit.
The vehicle went south on Fremont Road, then west on Copeland Road before getting on I-69 and traveled south.
The pursuit entered Indiana, where the Indiana State Police provided assistance. The suspect vehicle was ultimately stopped after troopers put down stop sticks near the Toll Road on-ramp at I-69. The driver tried to run away but was quickly apprehended by officers.
The driver is being held in the Steuben County Jail. Charges are being sought by the Branch County Sheriff's Office.
Assisting during the pursuit were the Quincy Police Department and the Steuben County Sheriff's Office.
