Sturgis Man Injured In NE Indiana Incident

(LAOTTO) - A Sturgis man was injured in a Northeast Indiana incident.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, 54 year old Adam Gingerich of Sturgis was driving his motorcycle south on State Road 3 near County Road 68 just before 6 PM Monday when a vehicle in front of him suddenly stopped. Gingerich told deputies that he used both the front and back brakes on his motorcycle to avoid hitting the vehicle, and was thrown from his bike.

Gingerich suffered road rash on his elbow, and also complained of head and arm pain. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Gingerich was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne to be treated for his injuries.

His bike sustained between $5,000 and $10,000 damage.

Assisting at the scene were the LaOtto Fire Department along with Parkview EMS.
