(ANGOLA) - A 42-year-old Angola woman has been taken into custody in connection with roughly 15 mailbox thefts reported across rural areas of Steuben County. According to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, an investigation aided by community tips and surveillance footage led detectives to a residence near Crooked Lake, where they executed a search warrant. Inside, investigators located multiple items believed to be tied to the thefts, along with suspected drug-related materials. Jenifer Marie Shuford was arrested Tuesday night and booked into the Steuben County Jail. She faces several preliminary charges, including three Level 6 felonies--theft, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a legend drug--as well as multiple misdemeanor counts.
Shuford is being held on a $10,500 bond. The case remains under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone missing packages between November 1st and this past weekend to contact the Sheriff's Detective Bureau at 260-668-1000, extensions 5224 or 5130.
