(COLDWATER) - Authorities have released the names of the individuals involved in a fatal two vehicle crash in Coldwater Township.
Branch County Sheriff Fred Blankenship says the victim has been identified as 60 year old Christopher Coscarelly of Coldwater and the driver of the other vehicle is 89 year old Betty Jean Ward of Coldwater.
The Branch County Sheriff's Office was called out at 12:45 PM February 19 for a two vehicle crash on North Union City Road near Narrows Road.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Coscarelly was traveling south on an electric scooter and was struck by Ward's vehicle.
The Coldwater Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance arrived and performed life saving measures but Coscarelly was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ward and her passenger were not injured.
Blakenship says it's believed that prevailing weather conditions may have been a contributing factor in the collision, which remains under investigation.
