(CENTREVILLE) - Another candidate has announced his plans to run for the 36tha District seat in the Michigan House or Representatives.

During Tuesday's St. Joseph County Commission meeting, Luke Lori shared that he is a candidate for the seat in Lansing.

The 47 year old Lori says this was not a snap decision on his part. He says he has been thinking about this for a couple of years after having a lot of conversations with people. He has decided that a change is needed in Lansing.

Lori, a Three Rivers resident, is the son of former St. Joseph County Sheriff and State Representative Matt Lori. He recently retired after over two decades as a corrections officer at the St. Joseph County Jail and as the District Court Magistrate.

Lori says what he will do if he is elected in November. If elected, Lori says he will spend time in the District talking to everyone. If they have a problem he will take it to Lansing and try to get it resolved. Lori says he won't showboat or be self promoting. (LISTEN ABOVE).

Last year Max Coon also announced that he is running for the 36tha District seat.

Incumbent State Representative Steve Carra is serving his third, two year term as the Congressman for the 36tha District.

The Michigan primary election will be on August 4.
