(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - A nationwide tour of interactive mobile museums will begin this week as part of the United States' 250th anniversary, according to organizers with Freedom 250.

Freedom 250 will deploy a fleet of six Mobile Museum Trucks designed to bring American history directly to communities across the country. The tour is scheduled to launch Wednesday, January 21, at Revolution Academy in Summerfield, North Carolina.

Organizers say the kickoff event will include federal officials and education partners and is being coordinated with the U.S. Department of Education.

According to Freedom 250, all six mobile museums are expected to be on the road by March 2026. The trucks will travel to cities and small towns nationwide, including stops at schools, libraries, museums, military bases, and community centers.

Each mobile museum will feature museum-quality exhibits, immersive multimedia, hands-on learning experiences, and original historical artifacts. Freedom 250 says the exhibits are designed to highlight the nation's founding, key historical moments, and civic themes connected to the country's past and future.

Organizers describe the Mobile Museum Tour as a central initiative in a yearlong series of national programs planned for 2026. Additional tour locations and dates are expected to be announced.
