(ANGOLA) - Cameron Health will begin temporary visitor restrictions at Cameron Hospital next week in response to increased influenza and upper respiratory illness in the community.

The restrictions take effect Monday, January 12. Patients at Cameron Hospital will be allowed no more than two visitors at a time, and all visitors must be at least 12 years old. The limits apply only to the hospital; the Medical Office Building and off-site clinics will not have formal restrictions, though patients are encouraged to limit visitors when possible.

Cameron Health said exceptions may be made for end-of-life situations and other special circumstances.

Masks will not be required but are strongly encouraged throughout the hospital and other Cameron locations, particularly for anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms. Signs will be posted at entrances to notify patients and visitors of the restrictions.

Hospital officials say the measures are intended to reduce the spread of influenza and similar illnesses and to protect patients, staff, and visitors during the current surge in respiratory illness.

Cameron Health said the restrictions will remain in place until flu activity declines.
