Tuesday, March 12, 2019

(MOTTVILLE TOWNSHIP) – A Goshen man has been arrested in connection with a fatal vehicle crash last summer.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office says 30 year old Allan Mann was arrested last week. He is charged with two counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death and driving while intoxicated
causing serious injury.

The warrant for Mann's arrest was issued in October 2018.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department was called to U.S.131 near Indian Prairie Road in Mottville Township just after 9 PM on July 16 for a personal injury accident. Deputies arrived and found a pick up in the road with a large amount of damage.

Investigators say Mann was driving the truck, which went off the road. Mann lost control of the vehicle, and it went into a roll.

The backseat passengers, 32 year old Richard Spicher of Middlebury and 30 year old Brittany Wolcott of Shipshewana, were ejected from the vehicle. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Mann and the other front seat passenger, 32 year old Heather Mann, were both taken to Elkhart General Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Allan Mann is still recovering from the injuries he sustained in the crash.

Investigators say Spicher and Wolcott were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Speed and alcohol were both factors in the crash.

Mann has been released after posting a $15,000 bond. A pre-trial conference is set for March 19 and a preliminary hearing for March 26.
