LaGrange County Council Approves Budget For 2026
Friday, October 17, 2025

(LAGRANGE) – LaGrange County has their budget for 2026.

During Monday’s meeting the LaGrange County Council unanimously approved the budget of $45,011,898. That’s an increase from the 2025 budget which was $41.8 million.

The budget was approved, despite new Indiana Senate Bill 1, which will provide property tax credits for homeowners and seniors starting in 2026. The credit will be 10% of their tax bill, with an annual maximum of $300.

To offset potential revenue losses, Senate Bill 1 authorizes local governments to increase or to impose new local income taxes.

LaGrange County’s budget now must wait for final approval from the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance.

The County Council also approved two salary ordinances, one for elected officials and one for non-elected county employees.
