Mendon beats USA 11-1 to win Division 4 Softball Title
(EAST LANSING) – Mendon jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, added four more runs in the third, then scored two more in the bottom of the sixth inning, as the No. 3 Lady Hornets beat No. 1 Unionville-Sebewaing 11-1 to win the Division 4 Softball State Championship for 2025. LINKC. The win also snaps USA’s run of five straight State Titles in Division 4. It also avenges Mendon’s loss to USA 5-4 in the 2023 State Finals, and a loss to the Patriots 6-5 in the 2024 Semifinals. Rowan Allen got the pitching win for the Lady Hornets, striking out 5 batters and giving up 5 hits and 2 walks. Cienna Nightingale was 2 for 3 at the plate with 4 RBI. LINKD. Ally Butler was 2 for 2 with a pair of singles and a walk and scored three times. Mendon ends the season at 35-2 while Unionville-Sebewaing ends the year at 20-16.
