(NOTTAWA TOWNSHIP) – A two vehicle accident injured several people over the weekend.
St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman says his department was called out Saturday to Nottawa and Wasepi Roads in Nottawa Township. The initial investigation shows that a passenger car driven by a 16 year old Mendon resident was going north on Nottawa Road, crossed the centerline and collided head on with a south bound van.
Two juvenile passengers from the van were transported to area hospitals via helicopters. Several other adult and juvenile passengers were taken to area hospitals by ambulance. Their conditions are unknown. Everyone was wearing their seatbelts.
Assisting deputies were the Centreville, Three Rivers, Mendon and Tri-Township Fire Departments, the Colon Police Department, Life Care Ambulance, Med Flight and Parkview Samaritan Helicopter.
