Multi-State Drug Investigation Leads To An Arrest

(MASON TOWNSHIP) – A multi-state drug investigation lead to the arrest of one person.

The Southwest Enforcement Team detectives along with the Elkhart County Intelligence and Covert Enforcement Team detectives worked together on May 21 to focus on a methamphetamine trafficker, who was operating in southern Cass County and northern Elkhart County.

Officers made a traffic stop in Indiana on a 49 year old man, and located a half pound of crystal meth, a loaded revolver and several thousands of dollars of suspected drug proceeds.

Officers then served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the 19,000 block of South Metcalf Court in Cass County’s Mason Township. While searching the house, SWET detectives found the suspect’s wife, along with over a pound of crystal meth, additional ammunition and evidence of drug distribution.

The man was arrested on the charges in Indiana and taken to the Elkhart County Jail.

Additional warrants are being sought for the suspect and his wife from the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office.

SWET and ICE were assisted by the Edwardsburg-Ontwa Township Police, the Elkhart Police, the Michigan State Police and several vigilant neighbors in Mason Township.
