(GIRARD TOWNSHIP) – A traffic stop over the weekend lead to the discovery of weapons and the arrest of an individual.
Branch County District Court documents say that the Michigan State Police stopped a vehicle for speeding Saturday as it was heading south on I-69 in Girard Township. Troopers say the vehicle was going 91 MPH.
While searching the vehicle, Troopers found two loaded weapons. One of the weapons had been reported stolen by the Grand Rapids Police Department. A pair of brass knuckles was also found during the search.
Arrested was 33 year old William Keating of Alto, Michigan. He was arraigned on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. That is due to a domestic violence conviction in 2021.
Keating plead not guilty and his bond was set at $50,000. He is scheduled to have a probable cause hearing on April 18 and a preliminary examination on April 24.
