(STURGIS) – Remodeling work will begin this summer at Sturgis Middle School.
Monday night, the Sturgis Board of Education approved a proposal to do the work, after being presented with them during their study session.
Sturgis Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert says the work in the Middle School will be in the instructional areas on the first, second and third floors. There will be new flooring in the halls and classrooms along with new baseboards and the walls will be painted.
The Board approved a recommendation from the Facilities Committee to have Migala Carpet One out of Kalamazoo do the work. Their bid was $798,215.
Ebert says Migala did the work in 2023 at Congress, Wenzel and Wall Schools and the District was very happy with the job they did.
Ebert says Migala will start the project once the current school year is finished. He is confident the work will be done before the 2024-2025 school year starts.
