(LAGRANGE) – Bids for two road reconstruction projects were opened Monday during the LaGrange County Commission meeting.
County Highway Engineer Theron Morgan opened the bids, which were sent in by Bailey Construction; Brooks Construction; Phend and Brown; and Niblock Excavating.
The projects will repave a section of County Road 1150 East and 1175 East, between U.S. 20 to the north and County Road 500 South to the south. Morgan says it will be split into four different segments by the Indiana Department of Transportation, and the company whose bid is accepted will do the entire project.
Morgan says that INDOT will need to have the contract approved no later than March 1. County Commissioners Terry Martin and Kevin Myers talked about whether or not to approve a bid at the meeting or as standard procedure, wait until the next Commission meeting for approval.
After several minutes of discussion, the Commissioners voted to have Morgan review the bids, and then approve the lowest bid.
The lowest bid of the four submitted came from Brooks Construction at just over $977,000.
