(UNDATED) – While no players from St. Joseph or Branch Counties were selected to the 2023 Michigan AP Division 3 All State Girls Basketball Teams, there were some from West Michigan named All State. Buchanan senior Faith Carson was named First Team All State, and the Division 3 Player Of The Year. The 6 foot 4 center averaged 19.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 6.2 blocks per game for the top-ranked Bucks this winter after missing the majority of her junior season due to an ankle injury. The Ohio State University commit helped Buchanan to a 23-2 overall record, a Lakeland Conference championship, and district and regional titles. Also named First Team All State are Maddux Overweg of Springport (Jr.), and Jordyn Bonnema of Kalamazoo Christian (So.). named Second Team All Conference is Samantha Dietz of Watervliet (Sr). The Division 3 Coach Of The Year is Scott Neumeyer of Hemlock.
