(STURGIS) – A timeline has been approved to find a replacement for 2nd Precinct Sturgis City Commissioner Travis Klinger.
Wednesday night City Clerk Ken Rhodes shared that the City’s policy is to advertise for the vacant positions and accept applications. The City Commission will interview the applicants and then appoint someone to the seat.
Rhodes laid out the steps the City Commission will take, based on the City’s policy. LINKC.
To apply for the 2nd Precinct Commission seat, you must ensure that you are a registered voter in the 2nd Precinct. If you are not sure, you can call the City Clerk’s Office at 269-651-2321.
You must then provide your name, address, home phone number, employer, employer address and employer phone number.
Finally you must provide a short essay expressing your reason seeking appointment as the 2nd Precinct Commissioner. Please include a resume, any special qualifications, references and any potential conflicts of interest in serving on the Sturgis City Commission.
Once you have all of that information, please send to Ken Rhodes, Sturgis City Clerk, 130 North Nottawa Road, Sturgis, MI., 49091. The deadline for applications is 4 PM on Thursday, April 6.
Klinger announced during the March 8 meeting that he would be stepping down as City Commission at the end of April, due to some changes in his life.
