(UNDATED) – Mitch Daniels has announced that he will not run for a vacant seat in the U.S. Senate.
Multiple sources say that Daniels has decided not to seek the seat in the U.S. Senate, after serving 8 years as Indiana Governor and the last 10 years as President of Purdue University.
In a statement, Daniels says he never imagined himself being well suited to legislative office, especially where seniority remains a significant factor in an individual’s effectiveness. The 73 year old Daniels says he visited Washington D.C. recently to get a gauge on the Senate climate and what he saw convinced him not to run.
