(DOWAGIAC) – A Dowagiac man was injured in a dirt bike accident.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were called to the 23,000 block of Dewey Lake Street just after 11:30 PM Friday. They were told that 23 year old Douglas Vantuyle was riding his dirt bike in the back yard when he lost control and crashed while attempting to avoid a tree.

Vantuyle was taken to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo to be treated for his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Assisting deputies were Pride Care Ambulance. The incident remains under investigation.
