(CENTREVILLE) – A free COVID-19 testing site has opened in St. Joseph County.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is pleased to partner with Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service of St. Joseph County, The Department of Health Human Services, and HONU to offer a free COVID-19 testing site.
The curbside testing site will be at the CMH Administrative Entrance parking lot, 677 East Main Street in Centreville. Testing will be available every Tuesday through the summer months from 9 AM until 3:30 PM.
This site will be in addition to the free COVID-19 testing site held at the CHA's Three Rivers location at 1110 Hill Street in Three Rivers, which is every Friday from 9 AM until 3:30 PM.
Rebecca Burns, CHA Health Officer says the discontinuation of the testing and vaccination site at Glen Oaks Community College allowed the CHA to evaluate the community’s needs in St. Joseph County. She says the CHA continues to monitor community transmission of COVID-19, which is currently low in the tri-county area. The Omicron variant is continuing to circulate among residents of the three counties as new cases are reported each week.
Kristine Kirsch, Executive Director of Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is pleased to offer a location to support ongoing community testing in Centreville. She says CMH is committed to supporting the mental and physical health of the county. Kirsch says mental health service needs have increased during the pandemic and adding COVID-19 testing is another opportunity to support residents’ whole health.
