(ANGOLA) - In an outpouring of kindness, the WLKI Cops for Kids Pie Auction had a record breaking day on Wednesday.
Over $79,000 was raised in just 7 hours, thanks to the Steuben County Community and the Tri-State region.
All of the money raised will stay in the community. Area emergency personal have worked with guidance counselors at Angola, Fremont, Hamilton, and Prairie Heights to identify school age kids who need some extra help this year. On December 9th, those kids will be treated to a special shopping night at either the local Walmart or Meijer store.
During the shopping trip they will receive all the warm clothing they need for the winter season, such as boots, hats, and gloves among other things. They will also walk away with at least one Christmas gift of their choice.
