Tigers hold on to beat Rangers 4-2
Thursday, July 22, 2021

(DETROIT) – Another young pitcher stepped up Wednesday and helped the Detroit Tigers as they continue their second half winning streak. Matt Manning fired six innings of two run ball, as the Tigers beat the Texas Rangers 4-2. Detroit has now won six straight games to start the second half of the season, and three straight over the Rangers. Three relievers followed Manning, including Gregory Soto, who worked around a bloop single, hitting a batter and a balk, to finish off a scoreless ninth inning and earn his 10th save on the season. Robbie Grossman homers for the second straight to help the Detroit cause. Zack Short and Akil Baddoo also went deep for Detroit (46-51). LINKC. Since May 8, the Tigers are 37-27.
