(BUTLER) – It didn't take long for Ed Bentley to find another job coaching basketball. On Monday the DeKalb Eastern School District Board of Education hired Bentley to the varsity boys basketball coach for Eastside. He was also hired to be the Assistant Athletic Director for the school district. Bentley served as a teacher at Westview High School and as the boys basketball coach in the 2020-21 season, and led the team to a 16-7 record. They lost to Central Noble in the Sectional Finals. According to reports on social media, Bentley was fired after one year as varsity head coach and his teaching position was also posted. Bentley spent over eight years as the Angola boys basketball coach, where his team won Sectional championships in 2016, 2018 and in 2019. Bentley takes over for Ryan Abbott, who was hired as the new head coach at Carroll.
