(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana State Board of Accounts is out with a special investigation report on the Town of Wolcottville.
It concludes Town Clerk June Wood should repay more than $50,000 in undocumented and personal expenses, along with tax penalties that the town incurred. It said Wood had repaid $3,641.95 so far. The audit report also noted deficiencies in internal controls by the town.
The report says it is important the Town Council members take seriously their duties and diligently examine claims presented for their approval.
There were also deficiencies noted in the internal controls to make sure payments to the IRS were made in a timely manner. It said there was no oversight to make sure that occurred.
Wood faces two counts of theft in LaGrange Superior Court where a pretrial conference is scheduled for April 15th.
