(CONSTANTINE) – Police in Constantine are looking for two people who are suspects in a robbery and pistol whipping incident over the weekend.
Police Chief Mark Honeysett says his department received an emergency call at 8:55 PM Sunday that someone entered a residence near the 1200 block of South Washington Street and shot a person. Officers arrived and found seven people inside a trailer, with one suffering from a head injury. The victim told officers the injury was from being struck with a pistol and not shot.
As officers interviewed the individuals at the scene, they were told that two people in Halloween masks entered the trailer armed with handguns. They ordered the victims to get down and then started taking items from their pockets, including wallets and phones.
One of the victims grabbed for a suspect's gun, but the thief pulled away and struck them with the pistol. The suspect then fired two shots inside the trailer, but no one was struck.
The victims say a dark blue or black Dodge Caravan was seen leaving the scene, along with another white SUV. It's not clear if the white vehicle was involved in the incident.
If anyone has information on this crime, they are asked to call the Constantine Police Department at 269-435-4355.
