Tuesday, August 16, 2022

(NOTTAWA TOWNSHIP) – The Nottawa Township Board took the recommendation of their Planning Board and voted down a request for rezoning. LINKC.

The unanimous vote was cast Monday night during the Nottawa Township Board’s regular meeting.

On July 19, the Nottawa Township Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend to the Township Board to deny a request to rezone a portion of property at 26262 M-86 from Agricultural Zoning District to Commercial Zoning District. The parcel in question is immediately east of Nottawa Lumber Alpha Building Center.

Midwest V LLC had asked for the re-zoning along with a review of a site plan that would allow them to construct a 10,640 square foot retail commercial building that would house a Dollar General Store.

Nottawa Township Supervisor Dave Peterson says after receiving the Planning Board’s recommendation, he contacted the Township’s attorney, who said the Township had four options. LINKD.

Peterson did say that just because this recommendation was voted down doesn’t mean that others couldn’t come to the Township and ask for a rezoning of land in the future.
