(UNDATED) – Five more cases of coronavirus and 1 death have been reported in Southern Michigan as of Friday afternoon.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says 4 new cases of COVID-19 are being reported in St. Joseph County. Currently there are 114 cases in the county and there have been 2 deaths.
Branch County has 1 new case of the coronavirus, which brings their total number of citizens infected to 110 and 2 people who have died from the virus. There were no new cases reported in Hillsdale County. They have 170 people with COVID-19 and 24 people who have passed away.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says there has been another death from coronavirus in Cass County. Three residents have now died from the virus. There were no new cases, making 80 people who have tested positive.
Once again the Michigan Department of Corrections says no new cases of COVID-19 were detected at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater. That make 793 inmates and 34 staff members who have tested positive for the virus, and there have been 22 inmate deaths.
Across Michigan, 607 new cases of coronavirus have been reported. That means 56,621 people have had positive tests for the virus. There were also 34 people who died from COVID-19, making 5,406 people who have passed away.
