Over the last ten weeks, Michigan has made money available to help out in different ways. $25 million has been given to help with house bills; $3.4 million has gone to assist nursing homes; $251 million has been used to purchase personal protective equipment and $8.5 billion paid out for unemployment.
Whitmer says Michigan has implemented a temporary hiring and spending freeze to help out during this time. In addition, the Governor and her staff have taken voluntary pay cuts.
Whitmer says Michigan and every state are facing the same issues as they come to the end of their fiscal years, and need help. LINKD.
Whitmer says the U.S. Congress needs to come together soon to help the States.
