(INDIANAPOLIS) – The number of cases of COVID-19 are up both in Northeast Indiana and around the state.
The LaGrange County Health Department announced Friday morning that two more positive cases of COVID-19 has been detected in the county, bringing the total cases in the county to 4. Health Officer Dr. Tony Pechin says the Health Department staff is working closely on these two additional cases to continue the monitoring to ensure that all infection control protocols are being followed.
The patients have been hospitalized for at least a week. Preliminary information indicates that one of the patients traveled to the Indianapolis area during the past month. No additional information about the patients will be released due to privacy laws.
Pechin says social distancing is the biggest key to slowing down the spread of the coronavirus. LINKC.
The Steuben County Health Department is also reporting two new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total in the county to four. County officials say both patients are under the age of 60, and one is in isolation receiving treatment in an Allen County hospital. Steuben County health officials say they have been in communication with the patients and the Indiana State Department of Health to identify and monitor any close contacts of the patients.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced on Friday that 408 more Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19. That brings the statewide total to 3,437 cases of the virus in Indiana. In addition, 102 Indiana residents have died from COVID-19.
The most new cases were in Marion County with 126.
So far, 17,835 tests have been reported to the State Department of Health, up from 16,285 on Thursday.
