(THREE RIVERS) - Members of the United Auto Works are on strike at a Three Rivers facility.

According to WWMT TV, nearly 1,000 UAW Local 2093 members went on strike as of 12 AM Monday at Dauch Corporation, formerly known as American Axle after months of failed labor negotiations, which started in March

UAW members say it's been nearly 18 years since they've been fairly paid and they are finished making concessions.

Dauch Corporation is a major supplier of axles for General Motors, and the Three Rivers factory is their largest in Michigan.

UAW Bargaining Chairman Josh Jager says workers' paychecks were cut in half during the Great Recession and have never fully recovered. He says they have increased their top end $4 over 18 years and that's not acceptable for a company like Dauch Corporation.

While the UAW is hoping to raise their top level wages from $22 an hour to $30 Jager says the company isn't budging on pay or benefits to employees.

Parts made at the Three Rivers plant are sent all over the country and a strike could cause a major disruption.
